Fashion Friday- Vintage Love

I love antiques.
I love my friends.

So naturally, a day away to the antique fair with the gals ranks right up there with the best of them.

We shopped the local antique fair once again this summer.
You were surely missed Jamie, and I just might have to crop you onto that empty stool...so stay tuned :)

Well, half the fun and charm of the fair (because the first half is leaving our 17 combined kids home with their dads) is that you never leave with what you came for, and you always find something that you never even realized you desired.

My surprise purchase this year was a $4 original 1983 "Great Shape" Ken doll.  Have I mentioned I never had a Ken growing up?  My barbies had a pathetic dating life.  I always wanted a Ken doll....oh and I coveted the motor home too. It's a wonder I turned out ok.  Just kidding....kind of.  I assure you I gifted Ken to my girls. I actually looked and saw that this same Ken is going for $40 on ebay...so he may just go back in the box.

Ok, I'm really scattered here.  Back to the reason for this post.
I also stumbled upon this fabric.

I think it was a bed coverlet in it's former life. And I loved it instantly.
So much so, that I have been swooning over it for 2 months now, not wanting to cut into it's lovliness.
Well, a few weeks back I did a major purge of Ellery's closet.  One might say all of this tangible busyness is why my blog has been sucking these days

Anyhow, I came across this onsie, that I absolutely adored on her last summer.  It's size 9 months, and clearly no longer fits, as she is almost 2.

But I still love it.

And upon closer inspection, I realized that due to it's boxy nature, the only thing that Elle really outgrew was the length.

So I salvaged it...combined it with my treasured fabric...and literally 15 minutes later had what is now one of my favorite dresses complete.

Happy Friday all~
