The lighthouse worth 8 recesses.

One of the highlights of Austin's 4th grade career thus far has been making a lighthouse replica, using a simple circuit...lightbulb, battery and switch.

He and his partner/pal Drew chose Big Sable Point Lighthouse in Ludington.  A fine choice since we frequent it every Labor Day.

Well, after a little trouble with their circuit, mixed with a slight amount of overachieving, they finally finished it.

Austin's wheels started turning, and with the help of google and his dads barn, he figured out that if he used the battery and headlight from the old 3 wheeler, they would indeed have "the biggest and brightest" lighthouse in town.

Indeed they did.

And 8 missed recesses later it was finished.

Well, Austin spoke right to his parters heart with the promise of a big bag of Skittles and Mike and Ike's in return to be the lucky one to take the project home :)

And now this is how we do breakfast around here.

Happy Friday all~
