A date with dad.

A snapshot of Sydney and her dad before their annual father daughter banquet date this year.
Chris August headlined, and once again they forgot my camera, so no pictures :)

Some pics from years past....
Next year will be a special one.
Apparantly family bi-laws state that father/daughter banquets begin at age 6... so next year will be Syd's last year flying solo with her dad :)

Signs of Spring

Overheard through my open window today....

"MOM! Ellery just pooped on the slide and she keeps sliding through it!"

and before my feet could reach all the fun...

"MOM!! Now she's making a castle with her poop!"

Ah yes, spring is on it's way folks :)

Happy Tuesday all~

Nine

This little girl is 9!
Digging through the archives, I found this goodie from 2007.
The year Sydney took dance class.
At the time I thought she was so old...and I laugh now, because she was Stella's age :)

As it turns out, 9 is the designated age when our children recieve a ds.  Apparantly it's law, b/c that's when Austin got one :)

At 9, Sydney is a huge helper. She is sensitive, confident, and a friend to all.

She delights in mothering her 2 little sisters, sewing, dancing, baking, crafting, and builidng stuff with Dylan.

Her laid back personality is a perfect mix of  what I would call a fancy tomboy.  She wears dresses while catching frogs :)

While she still hates/struggles with math, she loves to read and has a pretty good head on her shoulders :)

For fun, I thought I'd interview Sydney like I did the others...

The lighthouse worth 8 recesses.

One of the highlights of Austin's 4th grade career thus far has been making a lighthouse replica, using a simple circuit...lightbulb, battery and switch.

He and his partner/pal Drew chose Big Sable Point Lighthouse in Ludington.  A fine choice since we frequent it every Labor Day.

Well, after a little trouble with their circuit, mixed with a slight amount of overachieving, they finally finished it.

Austin's wheels started turning, and with the help of google and his dads barn, he figured out that if he used the battery and headlight from the old 3 wheeler, they would indeed have "the biggest and brightest" lighthouse in town.

Indeed they did.

And 8 missed recesses later it was finished.

Well, Austin spoke right to his parters heart with the promise of a big bag of Skittles and Mike and Ike's in return to be the lucky one to take the project home :)

And now this is how we do breakfast around here.

Happy Friday all~

Four

This little gal is 4!

For her birthday, we spent a delightful Saturday afternoon at Chuck-E-Cheese.
(Our Chuck-E-Cheese is right next to the fabric store, so she begs me to go there at least once a week :)

Stella is becoming quite the little lady.
She loves to play with her babies, barbies, pollys, kitchen, playdo, and Ellery Margaret of course. She loves to paint her nails, bake, and will fight for her fair share of time to dance with her dad
.
She is still quite stubborn, and is becoming very particular about what she wears.  When I pick out a dress for her, she will fight me if it's "not fancy enough"  meaning she wants twirl and ruffle.

She doesn't really nap anymore, tho she will konk out every afternoon on the couch around 5pm.... and she winds up in our bed every single night.

She loves to play with her Elly Margaret. They actually play together quite well.  Most days she coaxes her in her room and  they play house.  Stella is the mom, and Ellery is the "honey".

She talks non-stop, and is quite persistent!

Happy Birthday Stella!  We love you.
